Forest Feast AquaSprint swimmers make waves at Finals

Over 1,500 young swimmers from 25 clubs across Ulster took to the starting blocks on Friday 5th June to compete in the Forest Feast AquaSprint Junior Swimming League Finals. Competing in eight locations, the top three teams in each of the four divisions (A,B,C and D) battled it out to see who would take the title and lift the coveted AquaSprint trophy, with the remaining teams competing to avoid relegation.

In Division A defending champions Ards raced ahead to secure a hat-trick win over longstanding rivals Bangor and Banbridge. Competing at Ards Leisure Centre, the team were ecstatic to bring home the Forest Feast AquaSprint title with the final results being Ards 1st, Bangor 2nd and Banbridge 3rd.

Nearby in Bangor’s Aurora Leisureplex, Division B finalists Larne, Dungannon and Limavady were going head to head to gain promotion to Division A. In the end, Larne emerged victorious with Dungannon placing 2nd and Limavady finishing 3rd.

Next up was the Division C Final at the Orchard Leisure Centre, Armagh, which saw Breifne go up against Lecale and Portadown. The gala remained a close contest all night, but in the end it was the Breifne team who managed to pull out in front and gain promotion for a second consecutive year. The final results were Breifne 1st, Lecale 2nd and Portadown 3rd.

At Cookstown Leisure Centre, Ballymena picked up an early lead against Armagh and Enniskillen in the race for the Division D title. Ballymena’s advantage eventually proved too much and they emerged as comfortable winners. The final scores were Ballymena 342, Armagh 259 and Enniskillen 239.
