Dungannon swimmers, coaches and supporters welcomed Lurgan to Dungannon Leisure Centre on Saturday 18th April 2015 for their third Forest Feast AquaSprint gala of 2015. With their season in the balance following a loss to Limavady and a narrow win over Sliabh Beagh, the home swimmers were keen to put in a convincing performance against a very capable Lurgan team.
As always the action was fast and furious from the off and it was Dungannon who took the initiative with wins in the Groups A, B and C medley relays. In the backstroke events, wins for Group A Girls and Boys, Group B Boys, Group C Girls and Boys and Group D Boys along with three second and three third place finishes increased Dungannon’s advantage.
Dungannon continued to surge in the breaststroke events with wins for Group A Girls and Boys, Group B Girls and Boys, Group C Girls and Boys, Group D Girls. A further three second and five third place finishes left the gap at the halfway point 30 points in favour of the home team. The butterfly events were evenly matched with Dungannon taking wins in five of the eight events. A further five second and three third place finishes maintained the home advantage.
Last up on the evenings programme were the freestyle events. Dungannon edged the individual races with wins for Group A Boys, Group B Boys, Group C Girls and Boys and Group D Boys and followed these with three wins in the Group A, B and C relays. These were supported with a further four second and five third place finishes to leave the final score Dungannon 227-173 Lurgan.
